Introduced in the 1800s as a perfume, the alcohol-based Florida Water has become a standard staple in many witches cabinets all over the world. It’s a citrus and floral scented liquid used to clean altar tools, the home and can be used as a facial toner cleaning pores and can even be used to help heal a sooth cuts an scrapes.
You can purchase Florida Water from Walmart, Amazon, and of course from the Florida Water website directly – or you could have some witchy fun and make your own. The added bonus when you make your own is that you can place your intentions on the ingredients! We write a sigil or intention on the Bay Leaf and burry it in the yard when the water is ready.

Florida Water
I use enough Florida Water around the house I decided to make it myself to save a few bucks and add just a little bit of my own "pop."
Ingredients
- 16 oz Vodka or 90% alcohol
Citrus
- 2 Orange Peels
- 2 Lemon Peels
- 2 Lime Peels
Lavender
- 2-3 tbs Lavender OR
- 5-6 drops Lavender Oil
More Florals
- 10 Rose Petals
- 10-15 Jasmine Flowers (fresh or dried)
Spices
- 2-3 sticks Cinimmon
- 3-4 Whole Cloves
- 1-2 sprigs Fresh Rosemary
- 1 Whole Bay Leaf
Instructions
- Add the oils to your jar or bottle of Vodka/Alcohol
- Add the spices to your jar or bottle of Vodka/Alcohol
- Add the orange, lemon and lime peels to your jar or bottle of Vodka/Alcohol
- Write your sigil or intention on the Bay Leaf and add it to the jar as well
- Cap the jar or bottle tightly and set it in the window sill or doorway (where it won't get kicked or dumped) for three days while the ingredients blend together.
- On day 3 - strain the spices, peels and flowers out of the liquid and reserve the fluid in a spray bottle, or similar bottle for future use.
- Take the bay leaf with your sigil or intention and burry that leaf on the east side of your home, or as close as you can get if you live in an apartment or condo.
